- $2 million in funding for the construction of a multipurpose community hub at Dorset Reserve.
- The funding will also provide for major upgrades to the other facilities at Dorset Reserve, including those used by Croydon City Arrows Soccer Club.
Federal Member for Deakin, Michael Sukkar, has announced today that a re-elected Coalition Government will provide $2 million of funding for the construction of a community hub at Dorset Reserve.
Mr Sukkar said the funding would provide for a new community hub that would allow the entire Victorian Burmese community to assemble and hold events in the one place.
“The Burmese community is an important part of the local community, and this new hub will ensure its members can continue to provide cultural and language education lessons to the public”.
Members of the Burmese Community said the new community hub will allow all its members to come together in one place for the first time, strengthing the ties between our community and the broader public.
Mr Sukkar said the funding would also provide for upgrades to the facilities used by the Arrows soccer club, one of that largest senior soccer clubs in the Eastern Region.
The President of the Arrows Soccer Club, David Schneider, welcomed the funding announcement and said the funding would provide much-needed upgrades to its change rooms to accommodate for the growing girls’ competition.
