WALKER AVENUE IN MITCHAM TO RECEIVE ROADS TO RECOVERY UPGRADE
Local road maintenance in Deakin will receive a boost thanks to funding under the Morrison Coalition Government’s Roads to Recovery Programme.
The Morrison Coalition Government is investing $331,440 towards the upgrade of Walker Avenue in Mitcham as part of the Roads to Recovery program, in partnership with Whitehorse Council.
As the road pavement and kerb have reached the end of their useful life, this upgrade will see the road rehabilitated with drainage along the road to also be upgraded. Construction is set to start from 1 January 2020.
The Morrison Coalition Government is delivering over $139.6 million to 310 local government authorities nationwide for safer and better-maintained roads.
The Roads to Recovery Programme is set up for Councils to make road spending decisions based on local needs – without interference from Canberra – to ensure that funding is truly directed to where it is most needed in the community.
The Government also supports Councils to provide vital infrastructure and services through Financial Assistance Grants, and the Bridges Renewal, Black Spot, Heavy Vehicle Safety and Productivity and Roads to Recovery programs.
