CENSUS INSTRUCTIONS BEGIN TO HIT LETTERBOXES
Instructions on how to complete the 2021 Census have started hitting the letterboxes of Australians.
Ahead of the Census on Tuesday 10 August, 85 per cent of all households in Australia will receive a letter explaining how to complete the Census online or how to order a paper form.
Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar said the letters would provide Australians with clear and concise instructions on how to complete the Census.
“The upcoming Census will be vital in helping plan for the future of Australia. By giving people early guidance on how to complete their form on time and accurately, we are ensuring the 2021 Census will be a smooth and successful process,” Minister Sukkar said.
“People do not have to wait until Census night on Tuesday 10 August to complete their forms. We are encouraging as many Australians as possible to fill out their forms as soon as they can if they know where they will be on Census night.”
The Government is expecting a greater number of people to complete this year’s Census online. For the 2021 Census, it is estimated around 75 per cent of Australians will complete their forms online. In 2016, 63 per cent of Australians completed their Census forms online.
In addition to instructions being delivered across the country, the ABS continues to deploy a 20,000-strong team of Field Officers who are connecting with communities across Australia.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has undertaken extensive planning to ensure that the health of the community and staff remains at the forefront of the 2021 Census.
