COMMON SENSE PREVAILS AFTER COALITION’S CAMPAIGN FOR HOMEBUILDER EXTENSION
Hundreds of aspiring homeowners across the country can breathe a sigh of relief, as the looming deadline for HomeBuilder paperwork is due to be extended until June 2025.
Following the Coalition’s campaign for the Government to extend the deadline for HomeBuilder applicants – where hundreds of people were at risk of losing grants of up to $25,000 due to circumstances that are beyond their control – the Albanese Labor Government has finally come to its senses.
Although not set in stone, the Housing Minister announced the Government would work with the states and territories to extend the HomeBuilder deadline from 30 April 2023 to 30 June 2025.
On behalf the countless HomeBuilder applicants who were at risk of not meeting the April deadline, we applaud the Government for finally listening to the Coalition’s repeated calls to put politics aside by extending the deadline to provide immediate relief for Australians struggling through this national housing crisis.
The former Coalition’s Government’s highly successful HomeBuilder program received more than 137,000 applications and generated $120 billion of economic activity while we were in government.
The Coalition will continue to hold this Government to account to ensure it will deliver on this HomeBuilder promise so existing applicants do not miss out on receiving their grants due to circumstances that are beyond their control.
