EXPERTS CONFIRM LABOR WON’T MEET 1.2 MILLION HOMES PROMISE

With so much evidence that Labor won’t get anywhere close to their promise to build 1.2 million homes over five years from 1 July 2024, the Housing Industry Association has today confirmed Labor will fall at least 200,000 homes short of this target, further proof of another Labor broken promise.

With 20,000 homes required per month to meet the 1.2 million homes target and current monthly building data averaging 13,000 per month, Labor will be lucky to even get to 800,000 homes.

With a more than 400,000 home shortfall estimated, how on earth can the Prime Minister continue to blatantly lie to Australians?

This is more than 200,000 homes less than what was delivered during the last full five calendar years under the former Coalition government (1,029,043 between 2017-2021).

Under this Government rents have increased by 26 per cent, first home buyers and new home approvals remain at their lowest levels in more than a decade, lending for new homes remains at a shameful 20-year low and we have recently seen the weakest quarter of construction in more than a decade.

Despite all of this, Labor is continuing to implement its Big Australia plan through record migration.

Home ownership and the residential construction industry have never been a priority for Labor.

The Prime Minister needs to front up and admit he’s broken another promise, with Labor’s housing crisis set to worsen.
