- $150,000 has been jointly invested by Maroondah City Council and the Australian Government
Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin, visited Croydon Bowling Club to inspect the $150,000 upgrade to the Club, which was jointly funded by the Federal Government and Maroondah City Council.
Mr Sukkar said the newly constructed outdoor deck and disability access ramp are fantastic improvements to the club’s facilities.
“I’m happy to have supported a project which facilitates social gatherings and a better sense of community as well as providing better access to people with disabilities.” Mr Sukkar said.
“The outdoor deck has been elevated to a level where spectators have a better view of the competitions.
“Local bowls clubs are an important part of our community as they promote social inclusion and an active lifestyle.”
Ray Purdey, President of Croydon Bowling Club, said, “we are looking forward to spending the summer out on the deck and we’re most thankful to Michael for his support in getting the project off the ground”.
