The 2016 Deakin Christmas Giving Tree Appeal will provide much-needed support to local families this Christmas through the Eastern Emergency Relief Network (EERN) in Mitcham.
Michal Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin, today launched the annual Deakin Christmas Giving Tree, encouraging the community to give generously to the EERN and help to spread Christmas cheer to those in need.
“During Christmas, EERN organise 250 hampers for local residents so that the most vulnerable in our community can still experience the joy of receiving something special this holiday season,” he said.
“Residents, community groups and businesses can get behind this worthy cause and donate practical gifts through my office for EERN to use in their Christmas hampers.
“I encourage you to give what you can and truly make it a Merry Christmas for all in our community.”
EERN Mitcham provides food, toys, household goods, clothing, and other basic necessities, which most of us take for granted, to those in need of emergency assistance.
Donations can be left at Michael’s office at 5/602 Whitehorse Road in Mitcham until 5pm on Friday, 23 December 2016.
All of the donated items will be presented directly to the EERN before Christmas Day.
If you have any questions about the 2016 Deakin Giving Tree, please do not hesitate to contact Michael’s office on (03) 9874 1711.
