Works have begun on site at HE Parker Sporting Pavilion, with the official sod turning taking place today. The old pavilion has been demolished and earth works are now commencing.
The proposed double-storey facility will house 4 female friendly change rooms, a large multi-purpose room with amenities, and will focus on inclusiveness and accessibility for all abilities.
Federal Member for Deakin, Michael Sukkar, who attended today’s event, said that that providing modern facilities was vital to grassroots clubs as they seek to grow and attract new members.
“The benefits of exercise and active recreation are clear and it’s great that Heathmont Jets Football Netball Club, Heathmont Cricket Club, and SALT – Sport and Life Training, will soon have this new facility to call home,” Mr Sukkar said.
With a $500,000 grant from the Federal Government and a significant investment from Maroondah City Council, works are currently on track to be finalised by March next year, just in time for the football season.
