APPOINTMENT AS MANAGER OF OPPOSITION BUSINESS

I am honoured today to have been appointed as the Coalition’s Manager of Opposition Business in the House and welcome the new responsibility in addition to maintaining my roles as the Shadow Minister for Social Services, Shadow Minister for the NDIS and Shadow Minister for Housing and Homelessness.

The role of Manager of Opposition Business is crucial, as it enables me to play a key part in supporting the Liberal and National parliamentary team by ensuring rigorous and effective scrutiny of the Government.

It’s no secret that Labor have systemically weakened parliamentary scrutiny, allowing on average only 7 questions to be asked by the Opposition of the Government during Question Time, compared to an average of 10 questions in the previous Parliament.

In my new role as Manager of Opposition Business, I will continue to hold this Government to account on their Parliamentary conduct.

I thank all our stakeholders and members across all my portfolio responsibilities for their ongoing support over the past term. Their continued engagement and advice has been invaluable.

In this new role, I will continue to work tirelessly to represent the people in my electorate of Deakin, as well as the broader Australian community.

The upcoming election is a choice about Australia’s future and only a Coalition Government will get Australia back on track.
