APPOINTMENT – PART-TIME MEMBER – AUSTRALIAN REINSURANCE POOL CORPORATION
The Morrison Government has today appointed Ms Julie-Anne Schafer as a part-time board member of the Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation (ARPC) for a three-year period.
Following the terrorist events that occurred in the United States of America on 11 September 2001, the ARPC was established to help protect Australia’s economy from the global withdrawal of terrorism insurance for commercial property.
Ms Schafer is a distinguished lawyer with a strong background in insurance. Notably she has received a Queensland Law Society Award for exceptional service to Australian society. She has extensive board experience with her current board roles including Non-Executive Director, Queensland Urban Utilities, President, National Competition Council, Non-Executive Director, CS Energy and Non-Executive Director, Av Super.
Ms Schafer is joined on the Board by the Chair, Mr Ian Carson, Ms Elaine Collins, Ms Maria Fernandez, Ms Robin Low and Mr Jan Van Der Schalk.
This appointment will continue the high level of skills and experience available to the ARPC, to help ensure that the key sectors of our economy are effectively insured and protect Australia’s economy in the event of a declared terrorist incident in Australia.
Ms Schafer’s appointment also continues the Government’s strong record of identifying capable women for senior public sector roles.
