JOINT MEDIA RELEASE

LABOR CONFIRMS THEY HAVE BUILT ZERO HOMES

Labor’s claim that their Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF) is building new homes has been debunked in Senate Estimates.

It has been revealed that Labor has been disingenuously fudging the books on the completion rates under their HAFF scheme.

Finance Minister, Katy Gallagher, informed the Senate that 340 homes had been “acquired and converted” under their disastrous HAFF.

Acquiring homes that have already commenced or been completed does not count towards ‘new homes’ stock and this is not what Labor promised.

Labor promised Australians they would add new housing stock by building new homes, and these homes were already under construction without HAFF funding.

Now Housing Australia has resorted to scouring the country for pre-existing projects they can brand under the HAFF, to cover for Labor’s woeful construction record.

Not a single home has been built under the HAFF, or the Help to Buy Scheme, or the Build to Rent Scheme, and not a single first home buyer has bought a home through a Labor housing policy because Labor policies for first home buyers simply don’t exist.

When it comes to increasing supply, Labor has waved the white flag, and no policy of Labor’s has led to the completion of a single home.
