LABOR CONTINUES TO LIVE IN THE COALITION’S SUCCESSFUL HOUSING SHADOW

After 12 months of a Labor Government, the Coalition’s landmark Home Guarantee Scheme remains the only support available to help first home buyers.

The Coalition’s highly successful Scheme continues to help Australians enter home ownership with a deposit of as little as 5 per cent for first home buyers, 5 per cent for regional home buyers and as little as 2 per cent for single parents.

Today we see the embarrassment of the Treasurer trying to claim credit for the Scheme inherited from the Coalition.

Meanwhile, Labor’s so-called ‘Help to Buy’ housing election commitment is continuing to be swept under the rug.

Australians are asking why this election commitment did not commence on 1 January 2023 as promised by Labor.

The Albanese Government’s deeply flawed Housing Australia Future Fund is also continuing to unravel before our eyes, so it makes sense the Government is trying to claim credit for the Coalition’s Home Guarantee Scheme.

On Labor’s watch, new dwelling construction is at its lowest levels in over 10 years and forecasts for national new home builds and renovation activity are down and set to slow even further.

During a national housing crisis, the housing portfolio has been mismanaged by the Albanese Government and we have a Housing Minister who is missing in action.
